ANC accuses DA of ‘clouding’ Thursday’s special council sitting

The African National Congress (ANC) in Tshwane has accused the Democratic Alliance (DA) of “attempting to put a cloud” over Thursday’s special council sitting.
The ANC’s comments come after the DA laid charges of fraud against ANC chief whip in the Tshwane Caucus Aaron Maluleke and six other officials.
The DA is accusing the ANC of forging at least seven of its own councillors’ signatures in order to convene an illegal council sitting.

ANC Tshwane chairperson Kgosi Maepa explains:
A motion of no confidence is expected to be tabled in council on Thursday against Tshwane Mayor Stevens Mokgalapa and speaker Katlego Mathebe.
The motion follows the “sex in the city” scandal involving Mokgalapa and former MMC of roads and transport MMC Sheila Senkubuge.
