ANC vets: President Zuma nothing more than a party official
Updated | By Maryke Vermaak
The ANC veterans have warned President Jacob Zuma that he is nothing more than a party official elected to serve the people of South Africa.
Briefing the media in Johannesburg amid mounting pressure on Zuma to leave office, the stalwarts warned the President that he is not untouchable.
The veterans told the media that they had tried the democratic process to correct what they believe is wrong within the party, but are now left with no other choice than asking the ANC to remove President Zuma.
Cheryl Carolus said it is unthinkable that Zuma would reshuffle his cabinet without consulting the ANC leadership.
However, she believes "someone was consulted".

"I cannot accept that this president wakes up one morning and decides that he should reshuffle the Cabinet. We know it doesn't happen like that. He consults. He gets advise. People give him ideas," she says.
Carolus said that they wanted to know who the people were who gave the President advice.
"We want to know who the president's handlers are," she said.
