ANC welcomes Ramaphosa’s Covid-19 aid package

The African National Congress (ANC) believes the social relief and economic support package put together by the government will go a long way in supporting the country's economic recovery strategy.

President Cyril Ramaphosa announced a R500 billion economic stimulus package on Tuesday to help the ailing economy survive the coronavirus crisis.
The ANC’s Pule Mabe says the party is happy that ordinary people are at the centre of the aid package.
"We are confident that government will work with speed to implement the measures announced by the president to provide some relief in particular, for the distressed municipalities, the unemployed people and small and medium enterprises.”
He adds that the fund will also stimulate demand and supply, intensify the infrastructure build programme, the speedy implementation of economic reforms and ignite inclusive economic growth.
