ANCYL finally gathers for conference
Updated | By Jacaranda FM
The African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) electoral committee has defended the actions of party secretary general (SG), Fikile Mbalula saying that he will “unashamedly” be closer to certain youth league processes.

The Committee held a press briefing in Nasrec on Friday ahead of the ANCYL’s first conference in almost a decade.
Donald Selamolela says that the office of the SG has the mandate to support the league.
“The SGO will continue to provide support to young people of the African National Congress (ANC),” he said.
“It is the mandate he has from the ANC... this mandate must be delivered.”

Mbalula has been accused by some youth structures of interfering in the running of the league.
Last week Mbalula issued a stern warning to the National Youth Task Team (NYTT) for convening a youth league conference in the Eastern Cape when he gave a directive against it.
This subsequently led the party to terminate Xola Nqola's membership as well as his position as the national convenor.
