Police in KwaZulu-Natal have found an unidentified
body in the sugarcane field in Umthwalume, on the south coast.
The body was found on Saturday morning.
Five other bodies have been discovered in the community over the past six months.
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Jay Naicker says the body, which was covered in plastic, was burnt beyond recognition.
“This morning (Saturday) at approximately six o’clock passers-by, en route to work, found an identified body lying on the side of the road at Nomakhanzana location in the Umthwalume area.
“The body was burnt beyond recognition and covered in a plastic and at this stage we cannot say that it’s a male or female. Indications says the person was killed elsewhere, body was burnt and dumped on the road side.”
No arrests have been made in connection with the murders.
