Baleka Mbete awarded King Legacy Award

The ANC Women’s League has congratulated National Assembly speaker Baleka Mbete on being awarded the King Legacy Award for International Service.
“Comrade Baleka will soon be traveling to Washington DC as a recipient of the King Legacy Award for International Service,” said the ANCWL in a statement on Friday.
Mbete is the national chairperson of the ruling ANC party.
The award ceremony takes place on Sunday the 17 January and this year marks the 25th anniversary of the International Salute of the Life & Legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.
“We congratulate Cde Baleka on this international accolade. We celebrate her virtuous work as a Speaker in the National Assembly and National Chairperson of the ANC,” said the ANCWL.
“This prestigious award signifies her great leadership on various leadership roles in South Africa and beyond. We are are indeed grateful to the international community for recognizing and affirming women leadership with an award of this magnitude. This is indeed a befitting honor to Comrade Baleka as a leader of great stature.”
