A member of the notorious Boko Haram gang has been shot dead on the N4 in Pretoria.

The 35-year-old Phillip Given Mnguni, who was with his girlfriend at lunchtime on Tuesday, was shot and killed near the Diamond Hill Toll Plaza.
Gauteng police spokesperson Brenda Muridili says a witness reported that Mnguni was shot by the occupants of another car.
“The driver of the Polo lost control of the vehicle, which came to a stop not far from the road. The driver of the Polo was declared dead on the scene, while the passenger was rushed to hospital with gunshot wounds.
“The task team established to investigate gang activities in Mamelodi had already linked him to several cases linked to the Boko Haram,” says Muridili.
The group is accused of terrorising communities and businesses in Mamelodi, northeast of Pretoria.
The police confirmed that he was the most wanted suspect in their investigations into Boko Haram activities.
“All crime scene investigation team members as well as the investigating team tasked with investigating gang-related murders have attended the crime scene to ensure that evidence is collected correctly.
“The police are on the lookout for the silver Mercedes Benz that was allegedly used by the shooters,” says Muridili.
