Business community mourns death of Peter Matlare

The business community is mourning the death of Absa deputy CEO Peter Matlare.
Matlare sucumbed to Covd-19 complications on Sunday evening at the age of 61.
Matlare served in many senior positions over the years, including as CEO of the SABC, Vodacom and Tiger Brands.
Tributes for the businessman have since started pouring in.
Businessman Anant Singh has expressed sadness at Matlare’s passing.

"Having first met him during the privatization process of state-owned radio stations in 1996, he went on to become one of the pioneering executives in the media industry," Singh said.
He described Matlare as friendly and smart.
"We had the privilege of working with him when he was the CEO of Primedia Broadcasting and the SABC.
"He was one of the finest corporate executives South Africa has produced and was deeply committed to transformation.
"We send sincere condolences to his wife, Nomvula and his children. May his soul rest in peace."
