Concourt to rule on Janusz Walus’ parole bid
Updated | By Masechaba Sefularo
The Constitutional Court is expected to make a ruling on convicted killer Janusz Walus’s attempt to be released on parole.

Walus is serving a life sentence for the 1993 murder of South African Communist Party leader Chris Hani at his Boksburg home.
The Polish immigrant, who was convicted along with his late accomplice Clive Derby-Lewis, wants the apex court to set aside the Supreme Court of Appeals ruling that upheld the justice minister’s decision to deny him parole.
Hani’s widow, Limpho Hani, has over the years vehemently opposed the release of her husband’s killer.
Hani believes Walus has failed to fully disclose the motive behind the political leader’s assassination.
Walus has made several unsuccessful attempts to get parole, the latest being the one denied by Minister Ronald Lamola in 2020.
The minister, Hani’s widow and the SACP are opposing the application.
