Cosas, police face-off ahead of SONA 2017
Police are hard at work on the streets surrounding the parliamentary precinct attempting to disperse protestors who have gathered illegally.
The City of Cape Town says the EFF and Cosas gatherings in Cape Town's CBD are unlawful.
The local government says the ANC is the only party with permission to gather in the CBD for its People's Assembly rally.
The City's JP Smith says: "The EFF have been indicating they would gather on the corner of Church Square, no such application was received. So any gathering they undertake is illegal."
