Dros rape: Organisations to picket outside court

Several streets in Pretoria will be closed on Tuesday, ahead of the court appearance of the 20-year-old man accused of raping a 7-year-old girl in a bathroom at Dros restaurant in Silverton.
The man will make his second appearance in the Pretoria Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
He faces charges of rape, intimidation, possession of drugs and assault to cause grievous bodily harm.
The suspect can only be named once he has pleaded in open court.

Several organisations and political parties including #NotInMyName, the ANC Women’s League, Bikers Against Child Abuse and the Democratic Alliance will picket outside court.
Tshwane Metro Police spokesperson Isaac Mahamba says picketers are expecting to arrive in buses from different provinces.
“They will be dropped off at 08:00 in Frances Baard Street. The buses will be parked at the old Putco Depot between Struben and Bloed Street near Marabastad,” says Mahamba.
The following streets will be completely closed off from 08:00 to 15h00
-Francis Baard Street between Sophie de Bruyn and Bosman Street.
-Church Square will also be monitored for possible gatherings.
Motorists are advised to make use of alternative roads.
