Spokesperson William Ntladi says they are also concerned about possible fires at informal settlements due to the cold weather.
“Local Disaster and Emergency Management Services remain on high alert for possible flooding and fire-related incidents following warning of disruptive rain and lower temperatures as expected in the province of Gauteng as per South African Weather Services focus.
"DEMS is closely monitoring the water streams, known low-lying bridges, and areas known to be prone to flooding. Those residing next to the low-lying bridges, wetland areas, and streams, should be always extremely cautious and should move to elevated areas in case of flooding.”
