The life of jazz legend Thandi Klaasen is being celebrated at a memorial service in Germiston.
Klaasen died on 15 January in the age of 86 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Thandi Klaasen's son, Roger Phambane, says he will miss his mother's big heart.
"My mother was a very strong woman, a pillar. My mother was very, very strong," says Phambane.

Klaasen's granddaughter, Lydia Vasalotti, says Klaasen was the rock of the family.
"We look up to her. We try to emulate her in every way possible way and we hope that we make her proud. All that we are and all that I am is because of my grandmother," says Vasalotti.

Klaasen's daughter, Lorraine, says she honoured her mom by following her dreams and making a success of her own musical career.
She sang a song she and her mother always sang together to say 'I love you'.
