Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Seven members of a family who were killed during a flash flood in Ladysmith on Christmas Eve will be laid to rest on Wednesday.
Three adults from the Msimango family and four children died after heavy rains, caused the Bellspruit River to burst it's banks.
The rushing waters swept the family's vehicle into a river.
Alfred Duma Local Municipality Mayor Zama Sibisi will be attending the funeral.
"There is not much we can do as a municipality because no body expected that stream to overflow. Usually we have a problem when it is raining and the river flooding the town and it is not the case in these previously heavy rains.
"The town did not flood which means ewe want to believe that what we are trying to do to reduce the flooding is working for use."
