First look at luxury space hotel
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
Ever dreamt of vacationing in space? In two years' time, and for $9.5 million dollars, you should be able to do just that.
An aerospace startup called Orion Span announced in April 2018 plans for its Aurora Station, which is expected to launch in 2021 and begin hosting tourists by 2022.
Orion Span had now also unveiled the interior of the world's first luxury space hotel.
The station will host six people at a time, including two crew members and four guests, for a 12-day stay in space, the startup says.
The station would soar 200 miles (320 kilometres) above the Earth's surface, in low Earth orbit, completing one trip around the planet every 90 minutes. Guests will experience an average of 16 sunrises and sunsets every day and have the chance to fly above their hometowns.
Orion Span says that travellers will also experience zero gravity and be able to fly freely throughout the station.
Guests would also be able to also stay in touch or live stream with loved ones on Earth using the station's high-speed, wireless internet. Upon returning to Earth, they would be greeted with a specially arranged hero's welcome, according to the statement.
