Five escaped prisoners rearrested

Police have rearrested five of the 20 awaiting trial prisoners who escaped while being transported to "Sun City" prison in Johannesburg.

The daring escape took place near Southgate on Tuesday.
Police spokesperson Lungelo Dlamini says two of the five were rearrested in Soweto.

"The one suspect who was sentenced to 17 years was not amongst those rearrested."
Dlamini says police are working around the clock to ensure the other 15 are back behind bars.
The 20 prisoners escaped after a police van was stopped by a group of men armed with rifles.
