The City of Tshwane has confirmed the temporary closure of the Rietvlei Nature Reserve due to flash floods.

The city has experienced persistent heavy rainfall over the past few days.
Rietvlei Nature Reserve is a 3,800-hectare nature reserve in Pretoria that's home to various animals and birds.
"The city is compelled to temporarily close operations at this facility due to flooding," city spokesperson Lindela Mashigo explained on Thursday.
"The roads within the nature reserve are not drivable, and most of the bridges are flooded, resulting in risk of vehicular damage and drownings.”
The South African Weather Services earlier said scattered to widespread showers and thundershowers are expected on Friday and into the weekend.
