Foreign-owned shops looted in Olievenhoutbosch
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
A group of protesters have looted shops owned by foreigners in Olievenhoutbosch.
Angry residents took to the streets this morning to protest poor service delivery, crime and corruption, but the protest turned violent when a group of residents started targeting shops.
Rubber bullets, tear gas and stun grenades have already been fired to disperse crowds.
Police have told foreigners to take what they can from their shops and go to their homes, since it's not safe for them.
Some residents say the looting of shops is wrong.
"We are fighting for houses, not to take the Nigerians' groceries. This is wrong and these people doing this are the people who don't work," says an angry resident.
