Police in the North West say four armed men have been killed in Springbokpan following a foiled house robbery on Friday.
Six men accosted a farmer and his wife shortly after they arrived on their farm in Biesiesvlei.
They allegedly attacked the couple and robbed them of their belongings including cash and firearms.
Police spokesperson Sabata Mokgwabone says they then took the farmer’s bakkie to flee.
“The victim alerted neighbouring farmers who responded swiftly and managed to corner the Toyota Raider not far from the farm and arrested two males, aged 37 and 39.”
A car chase ensued in a bid to corner the other suspects.
“It was during the chase that the suspects exchanged fire with the farmers. Three of the four occupants were certified dead at the scene while the fourth one died at Thusong hospital,” says Mokgwabone.
An inquest docket and several other cases are being investigated.
