Four held for attempted house robbery in KZN

Four men were arrested after trying to rob a house in Pennington, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Friday.

A 37-year-old woman saw men on her property in Elizabeth Avenue on Thursday and called police, Colonel Jay Naicker said.
"She banged on the window to scare them off and one of them drew a gun and pointed it at her before they ran out the gate and fled in the car," Naicker said.
One of the men had a crowbar. Three men had tried to force open the security gate at the front door while the fourth man waited in a Toyota Corolla parked outside.
When police arrived the men had already fled. They obtained a detailed description of the car and circulated it.
The men were arrested on the N2 highway near Umkomaas. Police recovered the Toyota, jewellery, tools, a crowbar, cosmetics, gloves, and a flat-screen plasma television set.
The men were expected to appear in the Scottburgh Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
