Updated | By Sibahle Motha
Temperatures in Gauteng are expected to drop significantly from Tuesday as a cold front moves inland from the west coast.

The South African Weather Service says the cold front, which is expected to drop temperatures to freezing overnight, is currently moving through the Free State.
“The cold front is somewhere between Welkom and Bloemfontein and is moving inside the country.

“It will be warming up in the west tomorrow. However, Gauteng and Mpumalanga will be experiencing the cold and only warm up from Thursday,” says forecaster Tokello Chiloane.
Meanwhile, emergency services across Gauteng will remain on high alert.
In an incident on Sunday, some 35 shacks were burnt down in Ekurhuleni.
“We had multiple shacks that burnt down on Merafong informal settlement just outside Germiston. One shack started and spread out due to the wind,” says EMS spokesperson William Ntladi.
No fatalities or injuries were reported.
