The suspect was apprehended at a hideout in Olievenhoutbosch on Tuesday, following a tip-off from community members.

Police spokesperson Stephen Thakeng confirmed the arrest, saying that Maboa was located after his photo, shared on media platforms, led the public to alert authorities.

"The Pretoria K9 Unit responded swiftly and managed to apprehend the suspect, who was later transported to Limpopo Province," Thakeng said.

 Details of the Case

Maboa has been sought in connection with a murder in July 2024, when the victim was attacked in his Sebayeng home by five suspects - two men and three women.

According to Thakeng , the group demanded a lump sum of cash the victim had received following a motor vehicle accident.

When he failed to comply, the suspects allegedly strangled him to death and fled the scene on foot.

Four suspects, including Maboa's mother, Kate Maboa (41), were arrested in December 2024.

They appeared in the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court on 17 January 2025, where they were remanded in custody pending a formal bail application.

The suspects also include Wilson Mashao Malatji (24), Tebatso Mahakwana (23), and Flora Mabitsela (39).

Tebogo Maboa, who evaded arrest during the initial crackdown, appeared in the same court on 23 January 2025.

His case has been postponed to 28 January 2025 to align with that of his co-accused.

Limpopo Provincial Commissioner Thembi Hadebe commended community members for their assistance in locating the suspect.

"Law-abiding citizens who provide valuable information play a critical role in ensuring justice is served," she said.
