Hawks 'making headway' in VBS investigation
Updated | By Nokukhanya N Mntambo
The Hawks say they remain steadfast in the attempts to get to the bottom of the looting at the now defunct VBS Mutual Bank.

According to Hawks spokesperson Hangwani Mulaudzi, several legs of the investigation are close to completion.
Mulaudzi says they are confident those implicated in the scandal will be brought to book.
"Our ultimate goal is to make sure that those that have been fingered in the investigation are brought to book.
"Of course, with the investigation there will be people that will be taken to court.”
But Mulaudzi remains mum on the culprits that robbed may people, including the elderly, of their savings.
Advocate Terry Motau compiled the report, entitled "The Great Bank Heist", which revealed how 52 individuals looted almost R2 billion from the bank.
The explosive report has implicated some African National Congress (ANC) officials, including the deputy chairperson of the ANC in Limpopo Florence Radzilani and provincial treasurer Danny Msiza.
The report also implicated Economic Freedom Fighter's (EFF) Floyd Shivambu's brother, Brian, as one of the people who benefited from the scheme, walking away with R16 million.

Mulaudzi dispelled claims that a new investigation had been undertaken, only that headway has been made in the initial investigation.
This comes after several reports surfaced alleging that the initial investigations had been closed, making way for new investigations.
"Investigations have been running since 2017," says Mulaudzi.
"This is a very complicated case but as far as I know, matters are being dealt with."
The mutual bank was liquidated in 2018 but remains a matter of great contention within political circles.
