Human Settlements DG adamant to remain in post

The director-general at the Department of Human Settlements, Mbulelo Tshangana, says he will continue to carry out his duties.
Tshangana was responding to a leaked letter by Minister Mamaloko Kubayi, which states that he had been put on special leave pending a mediation process by the Presidency.
Kubayi has accused Tshangana of repeatedly defying her and failing to fulfill his duties as an accounting officer.
In an official statement, Tshangana said only the president, and not the minister, has the powers and authority to suspend him.
"I strongly condemn the leak (of the letter), which has resulted in media reports and was clearly meant to harm my integrity and character," said Tshangana.
"President Cyril Ramaphosa has communicated the outcome of his mediation process on the working relationship between the Honourable Minister and myself.
"This deliberate media leak is therefore, most worryingly, also meant to undermine the efforts of the President’s mediation process."
Tshangana vowed to continue to remain in his post until the process of mediation is finalised by the Presidency.
