Co-accused Marius Harding has abandoned his bail application and Ockert Muller was granted bail earlier this month.

The state is opposing bail for Mel, Shultz and van Rooyen.

Station Commander Ravi Naidoo submitted to the court that the complainant in the matter fears for his life and that of his family.

He added that witnesses in the matter have also expressed their fears should the remaining accused be released on bail.

The defense lawyers for the three accused all maintain that there is no evidence that proves that this was a racially motivated incident.

They also argued that there has been no public outcry since Muller was granted bail.

Lawyer for accused 2 JC Erasmus says his client denies involvement in the altercation.
