Klipspruit valley road closed off to traffic amid protest action
Updated | By Princess Mahogo
The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department is urging motorists to use alternative routes as the Klipspruit valley road (K43) is barricaded off to traffic with rocks and debris at R558, Narens Farm Informal Settlement in Lenasia.
It is reported that a group of frustrated resident have taken to the streets over electricity outage in the area.
Lenasia has been making headlines for wrong reasons lately with violent service delivery protest action which led to the torching of vehicle and a Johannesburg Water jetting truck.
JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla says police are on scene to monitor the situation.
"The closure is causing traffic disruptions travelling along K43 between Lenasia and Lenasia South. Motorists are advised to exercise caution, avoid and use Golden Highway or Walter Road from Lawley and Ennerdale as alternative routes".
