The police in Limpopo have cracked down on a crime syndicate suspected to be involved in a farm attack at Leeukuil Plot in Westenburg.
Following an intensive manhant for the suspects by a joint task team, police arrested three men aged between twenty-two and twenty-five-years-old thanks to a tip-off from community members.
The group of armed men attacked a farmhouse at Leeukuil Plot in the Westernburg Policing area on Thursday shortly before midnight.
It is alleged that the owner of the plot heard his dogs barking and went out to investigate where he saw two unknown suspects armed with firearms walking outside his house.
He fired a warning shot and the suspects ran away.
The suspects returned shortly thereafter, firing shots at the house and damaging the glass door. The owner fired back and susbsequently, one suspect aged around thirty was fatally shot.
The other suspects ran away and disappeared in the bushes.
The suspects were cornered in a house at Makgofe village outside Polokwane yesterday.
When they noticed the police, they started shooting at them. The police retaliated and one suspect was shot and all three were arrested.
The arrested suspects might be linked to more than 20 cases in Seshego, Westernburg and Polokwane.
They will appear before the Seshego and Polokwane Magistrates Courts respectively on Monday on various offences ranging from house robbery and attempted murder to the possession of firearms and ammunition and suspected stolen goods.
