Makhura: MEC are public servants, not celebrities

Gauteng Premier David Makhura’s new provincial executive was sworn in on Thursday morning.
Makhura warned his new cabinet that being a member of the executive council is about being a servants to the people.
“If anyone of us thinks joining the member of the executive council, is joining the celebrity would you are in the wrong place. There’s going to be a lot of headaches and a lot of problems coming your way. “
Makhura was speaking swearing-in of MECs in Parktown, Johannesburg.

He also urges his new MEC team to work hard to meet the needs and the expectations of the people in the province.
The premier vowed that complacency will not be tolerated in the new administration.
“We have heard the cries and the complains of the citizens. We understand that we didn’t get majority we needed but we are a governing party with a majority - that is also a statement and we are going to govern differently.”
