A man drowned in the Wemmer Pan in La Rochelle, south of the Johannesburg CBD, when he tried to save another man on Sunday, emergency services said.
A man drowned in the Wemmer Pan in La Rochelle, south of the Johannesburg CBD, when he tried to save another man on Sunday, emergency services said.
Spokeswoman Nana Radebe said a small boat with three people on board capsized on Sunday afternoon. This prompted the man to jump into the water to help them. The three people from the boat managed to swim to shore but the man drowned. No further information was available.
