Masuku was fired on Wednesday over the provincial PPE corruption scandal that is being investigated by the Special Investigative Unit (SIU)
"We are delighted that action has been taken against an individual like the MEC. We just hope there will also be accountability, whether that is the SIU clawing back the money that was lost, whether it’s a criminal prosecution or a disciplinary inquiry within the political party, " said OUTA’s Stefanie Fick.
The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) has also welcomed the decision.
Gauteng chairperson, Bonginkosi Dhlamini said they are however calling on Makhura to make all SIU reports public.
