Matric results shouldn't be used as contest between provinces - Sadtu
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
The South African Democratic Teachers’ Union (Sadtu) has welcomed the release of the 2020 matric results, even though there has been a drop in the pass rate.

Sadtu spokesperson Nomusa Cembi says the matric results should not be made a contest among the provinces.
"The uneven performance of provinces has nothing to do with the learners and the quality of teaching, but it has to do with the uneven distribution of resources.”
Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga announced the matric pass rate on Monday.
The class of 2020 achieved 76.2% - a drop of 5.1%from the previous year.
The Free State achieved the best pass rate among the nine provinces with 85%, followed by Gauteng at 83.3% and Western Cape with 79.9%.
