On Wednesday morning, they wrote their Agricultural Management Practices and Marine Sciences paper 2 and in the afternoon session, they wrote the Design paper 1 exam.

Speaking to Jacaranda FM News, pupils expressed relief from the busy exam season.

"My exams were so very hard and easy at the same time. It was just a lot and draining going on.

"I'm quite happy because, I'm done with high school and I no longer have to wake up in the morning going to school having to wear my school uniform.

"After writing the exams I feel so much relieved because the examination comes with a lot of pressure, pressured by everything because we all want to pass, because it's our final year of high school. So, now I am relieved."

A total of 732,000 full-time and 136,000 part-time candidates sat for the 2024 examinations at approximately 7,000 examination centres nationwide.

The exams concluded for both Independent Examinations Board and National Senior Certificate pupils.

Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube said there is still much to be done before the finish line is reached.

"Let us keep our shoulders to the wheel, strengthen our resolve and deliver an exam process that will make this country proud. As we await the final results and prepare to celebrate the achievements of the Class of 2024, let us do so with the same commitment and focus that has carried us this far."

She was updating the media on the National Senior Certificate Examinations on the final day of writing for the Class of 2024 on Wednesday afternoon.
