Ekurhuleni Mayor Tania Campbell has announced the new mayoral committee on Tuesday, amid service delivery challenges in the metro.
Campbell says the appointments are a demonstration of her commitment to “hit the ground running” after she was reappointed mayor following her failed ouster.
The mayor has also placed the head of department waste management Faith Wotshela on special leave as mounds of waste pile up due to non-collection.
“I have already taken decisive steps on several issues, most notably the waste crisis which is now being attended to with the urgency that it rightly deserves,” Campbell said.
The Members of the Mayoral Committee are as follows: Cllr Fanyana Nkosi (MMC Finance), Cllr Jennifer Glover (MMC Health and Social Development), Ald. Mabekenyane Thamahane (MMC for Transport), Cllr Senzi Sibeko (MMC for Water, Sanitation and Energy), Cllr Tambo Mokoena (MMC for Real Estate), Cllr Golden Maduana (MMC for Corporate and Shared Services), Ald. Alco Ngobese (MMC for Human Settlements), Ald. Heather Hart (MMC for City Planning), Cllr. Brandon Pretorius (MMC for Environment and Waste Management), and Cllr Khathushelo Rasinglingwane (MMC for Community Safety).

The announcement comes as ActionSA confirmed its withdrawal from the coalition government on Monday, saying it would use its numbers as the opposition in the Ekurhuleni council to hold the executive to account.
The party’s national chair Michael Beaumont said the DA-led coalition has failed to implement basic service delivery, uphold agreed to priorities of the coalition government, and obstructed the local structures’ efforts to achieve the majority needed defeat motions of confidence and pass budgets.
Meanwhile, Campbell said the new team of MMCs was appointed based on their skillsets.
“I have every confidence that they will lead their departments with the respect and dignity befitting of their office,” she added.
