Updated | By Neo Motloung
Former Kaizer Chiefs soccer star Mike Mangena has been
released on bail of R50 000.
Mangena made a brief appearance in the Randfontein Magistrates Court on Monday morning.
"As a state, we did not oppose such bail application, as we believe the interest of justice permits his release," says National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson, Phindi Mjonondwane.
Mangena and three others were arrested last week on allegations of the illegal manufacturing of drugs.
Mangena's three co-accused will remain in custody until their next court appearance on the 21st of February.
Mjonondwane confirms the three co-accused did not bring a bail application.
"Nor have they indicated to the state that the will be doing so."
