Mob kills three in Vaalbank after body of missing girl found
Mpumalanga police are investigating the deaths of four people at Senotlelo village in Vaalbank on Saturday.
A 53-year-old man, his girlfriend (51), and their 32-year-old son were stoned to death after being accused of kidnapping 8-year-old girl Nomsa Sambo last week Sunday.
The body of the child was found in a pit toilet used by the family.
"Police responded to information about a man who was allegedly seen carrying Nomsa to his house and on Monday they took him for questioning. A kidnapping case was opened in that regard. However, the man denied all the allegations, he was later released due to a lack of evidence.
"On Saturday information surfaced that the missing child was inside a pit toilet at the suspect's residence. Upon arrival, they found the lifeless bodies of three individuals, two males and one female on the street.
"The bodies had serious injuries which suggest that they could have been stoned and they were certified dead by paramedics. The child was later retrieved from the pit toilet and was certified dead," said police spokesperson Selvy Mohlala.
Two vehicles belonging to the 32-year-old son were set alight by an angry mob.
No arrests have been made.
