More charges to be laid against Tiger Brands bosses
Updated | By Pieter van der Merwe
Two Enterprise factories were recently implicated in the deadly outbreak of listeriosis.
Forensic investigator Paul O'Sullivan plans to lay charges of murder and attempted murder against Tiger Brands bosses.
O'Sullivan wants the company to be held accountable for the 183 lives that have been lost due to the listeriosis outbreak.
"We want the whole board of Tiger Brands to step aside," says O'Sullivan. "Criminal charges will be laid against them."
He explains they believe it would be inappropriate for the board members to stay in their posts and that shareholders should appoint a new board as soon as possible.
The Health Department recently named an Enterprise factory in Polokwane as the source of the outbreak, while also fingering a factory in Germiston for showing traces of the disease.
A nationwide recall of the products has since been announced with Tiger Brands vowing to get to the bottom of the outbreak.
O'Sullivan says they'll be working with Richard Spoor Attorneys which announced a class action lawsuit on behalf of affected families at the weekend.
Black First Land First (BLF) have also laid charges of murder against Tiger Brands.
