Police in KwaZulu-Natal are investigating the death of a 6-month-old baby who suffocated in his crib on Monday.
According to police reports the baby had been left in its crib with a net over the bed to keep mosquitos out.
It’s believed the net fell onto the infant, suffocating him.
KZN police spokesperson Nqobile Gwala confirmed the incident.
“A 6-month-old baby was sleeping in the cot when the curtain used to protect the baby from being bitten by mosquitos wrapped him on the face and body.
“The baby was then declared dead at the scene and the circumstances surrounding the incident are still being investigated,” she added.
