Deputy president Kgalema Motlanthe is expected to return on Wednesday after he concludes his working visit in the United Kingdom, his spokesman said on Tuesday.
Motlanthe visited London to promote investment in South Africa especially in the mining sector, said Thabo Masebe.
"Motlanthe and his delegation used the visit to highlight progress made by government, labour and business in their efforts to stabilise the South African mining sector."
Masebe said Motlanthe emphasised that under the current economic conditions, South Africans were determined to work together and use dialogue to set the economy and the mining sector onto a sure footing leading to sustainable growth.
The deputy president reassured investors that the South African government together with social partners would do everything to stabilise and grow the mining sector.
The mining industry plays a significant role in the economy, being a critical earner of foreign exchange, making up 40 percent of South Africa’s export basket and employing over half a million people, said Masebe.
