Motorists warned not to cross low-lying bridges in Centurion

Tshwane Emergency Services spokesperson Charles Mabaso has warned motorists in Centurion not to engage in “risky behaviour” amid the rainy weather in the province.

This comes after a driver got stuck at the Blackwood low water bridge on Friday while attempting to crossthe river.
Several areas in Centurion experienced flooding on Friday morning due to the persistent rain in the province.
“At about 11am, a SUV was stuck on the Blackwood low water bridge and subsequently recovered by a tow truck,” says Mabaso.
“The occupant and driver of the vehicle is safe. This is risky behaviour as motorists try to cross low water bridges when they are flooded. Thus we discourage it in the strongest terms.”
