The ANC Member of Parliament accused of his wife's murder has been denied bail by the Orkney Magistrate's Court.
Thirty-four-year-old Sibusiso Kula appeared in court on Tuesday for his formal bail application.
Kula was arrested in connection with the murder of his 31-year-old wife Jennifer Kula after her body was found at her home in Kanana township last November.
National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) North West spokesperson Henry Mamothame says the matter has been postponed to 24 February for further investigations.
"The NPA welcomes this judgment and hopes investigations will be completed speedily for a trial to commence.
"Further to this, an application will be made at a later stage with the Director of Public Prosecutions in North West for the matter to be transferred to a higher court owing to its serious nature."
Mamothame says Kula has indicated his intention to appeal the judgment.
