No regrets joining ActionSA - Baloyi
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
Former ActionSA Gauteng leader Bongani Baloyi says he does not regret joining the party despite his abrupt exit.
He resigned from the party with immediate effect following a relationship breakdown with founder Herman Mashaba.
Baloyi, who is a former DA member and mayor of Midvaal, joined ActionSA last year January.
According to Baloyi, he stepped down because Mashaba wanted to him to become national spokesperson even though trust between the two had broken down.
"I don't know anything about the irreconcilable differences, we have never sat down to have a conversation resolve any issues and try to find each other. It is not irreconcilable differences with national leadership, but Mashaba said he had the differences with me which I don't know, because at not stage there was allegations where I can defend myself."
Baloyi also raised concern over inexperience within the party,
"Everything I have done was to strengthen, grow, reposition the party and you can't have a vibrant party without structure, discipline and that's important.
"I wanted to build a formidable structure of Gauteng which applies its mind about policies, principles and how you create a predictable and stable environment in politics."
He said Mashaba was competing with the Gauteng structure on party activities, including membership drive.
"Gauteng has a strong structure which was impenetrable, where actually there was coordination and i think led to a collision point."
Baloyi has yet to make public his next move.
