Two Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) officers were killed when a vehicle slammed into a roadblock along Witkoppen Road in Paulshof on Monday evening.

Two other officers and five occupants were injured when the driver of a bakkie ploughed into three stationary cars.
JMPD spokesperson Wayne Minnaar says the man was taken into custody on suspicion of drunken driving.
“Two female JMPD officers died after they were bumped by drunken driver at a roadside check on Monday night. The accident occurred around 21:00 on Witkoppen Road past Montecasino, where a driver of a Toyota Hilux double cab drove into the group of officers.”
Three of the injured had to be rescued by the local fire department.
Minnaar says he faces charges including culpable homicide, reckless and negligent driving and negligent as well as drunken driving.
“He was taken for a blood sample and detained at the Sandton police station.”
