Parents urged to complete online applications for Gauteng schools
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
The Gauteng Department of Education has called on parents to complete their online application forms for Grades 1 and 8 for 2025.

Since the online application opened earlier this month, the department has received over 146 000 incomplete online applications for Grades 1 and 8 for the 2025 academic year.
Departmental spokesperson Steve Mabona has urged parents to ensure they submit completed applications and fill in all five steps of the Application Process to secure a place at Gauteng public schools for the 2025 academic year.
"To ensure that you have completed the 5-step application process, the parents need to register their details; register home address details; register the learner details; apply to a minimum of three to five schools and upload documents to the system or submit documents physically to selected schools.
"Applications where documents have not been submitted, or the 5 Step Application Process was not completed, will be considered as incomplete and, as such, will not be processed for placement. It is important for parents to check the SMs they receive from the Online Admission system, which notifies them of their application status, incomplete steps and other important information regarding their application."
The application period for Grade 1 and Grade 8 admissions for 2025 will close on Monday, 12 August 2024.
