Parliament angered by Mkhwebane ‘racial slurs’

Parliament has condemned EFF MP Busisiwe Mkhwebane for making racial slurs against people of Indian descent.
Parliament labelled the former public protector’s comments regrettable in a democratic society.
Mkhwebane’s remarks on social media followed the Supreme Court of Appeal striking her appeal against the dismissal of her attempt to remove key figures from her impeachment process.
Parliament’s spokesperson Moloto Mothapo said her remarks are a violation of constitutional values.
“The unwarranted attack on these officials, along with the racial slurs used by Advocate Mkhwebane, is particularly regrettable in a democratic society such as ours, where human dignity should be protected and respected.
“As a Member of Parliament and a public representative who owes allegiance to our Constitution, Advocate Mkhwebane has a responsibility to uphold and protect the values enshrined in the Constitution, which are the cornerstone of our democracy.
Mothapo added that Mkhwebane had sought the court’s intervention to express her dissatisfaction with the Section 194 Committee’s outcome, and the court had struck the matter from the roll.
