Patriotic Alliance (PA) mayoral candidate Bruce Nimmerhoudt has been granted bail by the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
Nimmerhoudt, who is the PA’s Joburg mayoral candidate, has been accused of creating and distributing a voice note calling for businesses and malls on the West Rand to be looted and destroyed.
He is facing charges of incitement to commit public violence following his arrest in Witpoortjie early this month.
Nimmerhoudt maintains he has been falsely implicated and his arrest is political as he is a mayoral candidate for his party in the upcoming local government elections.
He appeared in court on Friday.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) says he will return to court in August.
"Nimmerhoudt has been granted R3 000 bail and the next court date is 4 August.
"Bail conditions include, he may not leave Gauteng without permission of the investigating officer and may not contact state witnesses."
Nimmerhoudt is also facing a charge of terrorism.
