Gauteng MEC for Education Panyaza Lesufi handed over a refurbished Julius Sebolai Primary School to the community of Braamficherville on Wednesday.

The department’s spokesperson Steve Mabona says the upgraded school will change the children's lives.
The school has a new administration block, 33 smart classrooms, five Grade R classes a computer laboratory and a library.
"The schools identified for upgrades will change the lives of our learners and bring hope to the communities they live in. This process will also put emphasis on a speedy service delivery process and frequent stakeholder engagement."
Mabona says the school has also gone green.

"Green initiatives include a roof insulation, glazing, energy saving lighting and solar water heating.
"All South Africans have the right to basic education. According to the Bill of Rights of the country’s constitution, the state has an obligation, through reasonable measures, to progressively make this education available and accessible.
“However, if the right to education is going to be satisfied, a fundamental building block in achieving this is the provision of suitable facilities in a manner that will stimulate the culture of learning so that it can take root and grow."
The project is aimed at children from previously disadvantaged communities.
"The impact the project has had on the beneficiary community has been remarkable. Its success cannot be measured merely indirect benefits, such as the number of buildings erected, but rather the human benefit that the community has derived from being part of the process,” says Mabona.
“The success of the project has been the direct involvement of the beneficiaries in the planning, implementation and ongoing management of the facilities."
