Police officer shot and killed in Alex

Gauteng police in have confirmed the death of Sergeant Moshela Mokgoba, who was shot and killed in Alexandra, north of Johannesburg on Tuesday evening.
National police spokesperson Brenda Muridili says the officer was shot while he was on duty.
“It is reported that the Sergeant and colleagues were following a suspicious vehicle and on 3rd Street near Pan African Mall. There was a traffic jam so he and a colleague proceeded to approach the said vehicle on foot but shots were fired from that vehicle.
“The member was declared dead on the scene,” says Muridili.
The province has already instituted the 72-hour activation plan to hunt down the suspect responsible for the killing.
She says the suspect, who is known to the police, is being tracked.
“The national commissioner has been assured by the province that they are affording the family of the deceased member all the support they need during this time of bereavement.”
