IPID spokesperson Grace Langa said the officers allegedly tortured and killed a man in 2014.

“It is alleged the officers arrested 37-year-old Khuthazile Mbendu at Ivory Park in December 2014 and tortured him along the way to the police station,” she said.

The officers were expected to appear in the Thembisa Magistrates Court on Thursday.

This comes as eight former police officers from Dayveton where found guilty of the murder of Mozambican taxi driver Mido Macia on Tuesday.

Macia was dragged behind a police van through the streets of Daveyton and tortured while in police custody in 2013.

Another alleged police brutality case making headlines comes from Douglasdale where two police officers are expected to be served with notices of suspension after a video took social media by storm showing a man being choked and assaulted after he was pulled over early one morning in August.

The case was handed over to IPID for investigation.
