Limpopo police sergeant arrested after murder of wife, domestic worker

Police in Limpopo have arrested a 44-year-old Police Sergeant following the alleged shooting of his wife and domestic worker at their homestead in Masisi, Vhembe district, on Tuesday evening.
The police sergeant was arrested on Thursday night following a shootout with police at the Makuya policing area.
He was spotted driving at high speed along Tshitavha road next to the Sambandou bridge.
The 44-year-old had been on the run since Tuesday.
Police spokesperson Hlulani Mashaba says the Investigative Police Independent Directorate (IPID) has been notified for further handling of the case following the shooting ordeal.
"When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspect started firing multiple shots at them, prompting the police to respond swiftly. The suspect was wounded in the exchange, and one police officer sustained minor injuries. The Police recovered a service pistol and ammunition.
"Both the suspect and the injured officer were transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. The suspect is expected to appear before the Masisi Magistrate's Court soon, facing two counts of murder and attempted murder."
