R15 million worth of cocaine seized at Richards Bay port of entry

Hawks members in Richards Bay have seized blocks of cocaine with a street value of R15 millon on Monday.

Hawks members acted on a tip off about a vessel that was traveling from Columbia to the Richards Bay Port of Entry.
It was indicated that the vessel was importing iron to South Africa, but also carrying drugs.
KwaZulu-Natal Police spokesperson Simphiwe Mhlongo says an enquiry was registered and a disruptive operations was planned.
"A search was conducted upon arrival of the vessel and during the search blocks cocaine to the street value of R15 million were found.
"Preliminary investigation was conducted and certain evidence was collected. No arrest has been made at this stage operation continues."
